ElecoPrecast™ secures phase 3 of Reading Student Accommodation project
ElecoPrecast™ Bell & Webster is pleased to announce a new order from Brookfield Multiplex Construction Europe Limited, to manufacture and construct 457 student accommodation rooms at Reading University. The £22m project will be made up of five four storey blocks of which 4 blocks will be constructed using the Bell & Webster RoomSolution®.
The Bridges Hall redevelopment involves the demolition of the existing halls of residence and the construction of 649 new rooms in cluster flat and townhouse accommodation. The Bridges Hall redevelopment constitutes the third and final phase of the University of Reading’s ten year halls redevelopment programme to provide circa 2,500 new high quality study bedrooms and consolidate the University’s student accommodation on to its Whiteknights Campus.
The Bell & Webster RoomSolution® precast system was proven to deliver successfully on phases 1 and 2; for Morgan Sindall. The ElecoPrecast™ team have developed and implemented some process improvements evolved from phases 1 and 2, which will allow us to exceed the client’s expectations.

An experienced management team led by John Stothard, Managing Director has now taken over at ElecoPrecast™, Eleco’s newly formed precast concrete operation comprising Bell & Webster at Grantham, Lincolnshire and Milbury Systems at Lydney, Gloucestershire.
Carol Lound has been appointed Finance Director and will be based at Grantham, together with Chris Baker who has been appointed Business Development Manager; Kevin Shaw has been appointed Operations Manager of ElecoPrecast’s Milbury Systems operation at Lydney.
ElecoPrecast™, co-ordinates the marketing, design and manufacturing operations of all Eleco’s precast interests at Bell & Webster Concrete and Milbury Systems.
John Stothard, Managing Director of ElecoPrecast™ said:
“The strategic locations of ElecoPrecast’s business units at Lydney, Grantham and Yaxley, in Suffolk will enable us to market our precast product range to the agricultural community in the South, the Midlands and East Anglia, as well as our customers in the waste, environmental and construction industries in those areas.
